Its product offering, Indus OS, already has a significant penetration in the Indian mobile phone market. The start-up is also the first OS in India to launch text-to-speech solution in nine native languages. Indus OS allows translation of text from English to any of the 12 languages (spoken by 90 per cent of India’s population) it supports by simply swiping over the message.
Ventureast co-invested in the company in 2016 and is working closely with the Indus OS team to hire talent and develop the product. Its top clientele include Micromax, Intex, Karbonn, and Celkon, among others. After gaining seven million users in about 18 months, and already the #2 OS in India, the Mumbai-based company is looking to powering 100 million smartphones by 2020.
The company is founded by IIT - Bombay graduates Rakesh Deshmukh & Akash Dongre, and the senior management team includes top professionals and leading voices in the Indian smartphone industry.
